Exciting news!!! From the istella tech blog (here): “istella is glad to release the Istella Learning to Rank (LETOR) dataset to the public, used in the past to learn one of the stages of the Istella production ranking pipeline. To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest publicly available LETOR dataset, particularly useful for large-scale experiments on the efficiency and scalability of LETOR solutions.”
together with Ranieri Baraglia and Rossano Venturini, two colleagues at ISTI-CNR, we are organizing the first International Workshop on Tourism Facilities 2012 (TF’12).
It will focus on advances in systems and techniques enabling tourism facilities. The workshop is co-located with the 2012 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI 2012) and it will be held the December 4th, 2012 in Macau, (China). It would be an interactive forum for researchers ranging from data mining, information retrieval, natural language processing, machine learning to interface engineering to discuss common problems and to identify new solutions of this emerging scenario.

I am a Doctor. Yes, sure… not that kind of Doctor! Today I discussed my Ph.D. thesis.
My thesis title is: “Query Log Mining to Enhance User Experience in Search Engines”.
As we have some “under review” contributions, I will link the PDF soon.
together with Gabriele Capannini, Fabrizio Silvestri and Raffaele Perego we have a position paper at the “Diversity in Document Retrieval” (DDR) Workshop co-located with the European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR 2011).
The paper is titled: A Search Architecture Enabling Efficient Diversification of Search Results.
The workshop was a great moment for participant for discussing ideas, results and trends. I found it very interesting and useful. Hope the workshop will be held again in the near future.
Congrats to the organizers: Craig Macdonald, Jun Wang, Charles Clarke.
We got an accepted paper to VLDB 2011.
The title of the paper is “Efficient Diversification of Web Search Results”. It will appear in the Proceeding of the VLDB, Volume 4, Issue 7.
Looking forward to see you in Seattle!
I just realized my Erdős number is 3.
I am very very happy.
great news! We got two accepted papers @ SPIRE 2010.
Looking forward to see you all in Los Cabos, Mexico!
Hi all, great news.
I will visit the Yahoo! Research Labs in Barcelona for three weeks. I will be there on 05/17/2010.
I will work with Aristides Gionis and Francesco Bonchi on new possible collaborations Yahoo!-ISTI.
we got an accepted paper @ RIAO’10.
It is a joint work with Carlos Castillo and Debora Donato from Yahoo! Research Barcelona. The paper is entitled “The Effects of Time on Query Flow Graph-based Models for Query Suggestion”.
Here the video of my presentation. Enjoy!
