Vinicius Monteiro de Lira
Postdoctoral Fellow in Data Science at ISTI-CNR

Vinicius Monteiro de Lira, currently, is a Postdoctoral Researcher at HPC LAB / ISTI-CNR. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science in 2019, at the Federal University of Pernambuco in joint-supervision with the University of Pisa. At the Federal University of Pernambuco, he also obtained a master’s degree (in 2014) and a bachelor’s degree (in 2011) in Computer Science. His current research topics include applied machine learning and graph neural networks. During his PhD, he investigated algorithms to improve ride-sharing systems’ effectiveness and proposed a Machine Learning-based approach to infer transport demands for major events using texts posted on social networks. He is also a former Marie Curie fellow (2013 and 2014) at the KDD Lab ISTI-CNR for the SEEK Project, where he carried out research activities related to the investigation of semantic regularity in the lifestyle of human mobility. He has also collaborated in several other European research projects involving different topics such as Machine Learning, Distributed Computing, and Cloud Computing. He worked as a visiting researcher intern in several international research institutions: KDD Lab (Italy), University of Glasgow (Scotland), PUC-Rio (Brazil), Dalhousie University (Canada), and Insight Data Lab (Brazil).
