X-HPC : Experimenting XtreemOS to provide HPC services
XtreemOS is a new LINUX-based operating system, improved with Grid and Cloud oriented services to provide the abstraction of a geographically distributed computing platform which is pervasive, secure and easy to use. XtreemOS is the result of the EU-funded project FP6-033576. It integrates into a single computing platform a wide range of LINUX devices, ranging from ordinary workstations to Single-system-image
HPC clusters, and including mobile devices as well. XtreemOS is designed as a scalable and flexible system, fit for industrial use and the ubiquitous needs of Future Internet.
The use of XtreemOS on top of Grid and Cloud computing resources will be the topic of the upcoming workshop “X-HPC, XtreemOS for providing HPC services”, hosted at the Department of Computer Science
by the new-born HPC center of the University of Pisa.

SDIA 2010 – Scalable Data Intensive Applications
Special session of the 18th Euromicro Int.l Conf. on Parallel, Distributed and Network-Based Computing – PDP 2010, February 17-19, 2010 – Pisa, Italy. We are living in the information age. The day-to-day human activities produce overwhelming amount of information, which need be stored in computer-based repositories and warehouses for everyday processing. Storing, managing, sharing, searching, mining, extracting knowledge and aggregating such data for complex applications are thus becoming increasingly more challenging. The size of data and the algorithmic complexity of analysis performed require the exploitation of high-performance parallel and distributed solutions to guarantee scalability and acceptable latency. Visit for more info http://sdia2010.isti.cnr.it.

International Workshop on Resource Discovery Mechanisms for P2P systems
This workshop will focus on new methods and algorithms to efficiently and effectively access data distributed over large-scale P2P overlay networks. The workshop particularly encourages papers that address these aspects as well as papers presenting novel architectural solution for these systems. However, more broadly, papers are solicited on any topic related to P2P computing, including the topics listed below.
