This is the HPC Lab website
HPC Lab research group carries out research on algorithms and systems addressing computational-, and data-intensive problems arising in scientific, business, social, and knowledge-based applications within the Future Internet scenario. Our advanced solutions exploit High Performance techniques and tools to deal with the exponential growth of users, data, knowledge and services available on line. Such huge amount of information needs to be efficiently stored, managed, analyzed, searched, and retrieved. The main research areas of the research unit are: Web Information Retrieval, Data and Web Mining, Cloud and P2P Systems, Service Oriented Architectures. The group, composed of about 20 people, is actively involved in several European projects including S-Cube, Contrail, Assets, Nessos in the seventh framework programme. It is also very active in Italian projects, including the MOTUS Industria 2015 project, the VISITO Tuscany POR project, and the MATRICE project funded by the health ministry. The group is very varied and dynamic receiving, during the last two years, visitors from US, Germany, France, UK, Spain, Tunisia, Brazil, Chile, Israel. It has also very close ongoing collaborations and exchanges with outstanding international partners from both industry and academia. The HPC Lab is a part of the “Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologia dell’Informazione A. Faedo” (ISTI), the largest institute of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) involved in ICT Research. The laboratory is located in a very enjoyable location in the CNR Research Area of Pisa, and is closely linked with the University of Pisa, home of the first PhD program in Computer Science in Italy. The HPC Lab has currently openings for Post-Doc and Young Researcher positions.
